WE ARE SEEKING

Entrepreneur in Residence –
Venture Building
(Finland)

Atlan venture studio, Helsinki. Starting case for this position: a mining-technology venture we are launching now.

The role

Atlan builds companies together with innovators. The innovators build the technology. We build the business around it: the agreements, the money, the direction, the decisions that cannot wait.

Now we are looking for an Entrepreneur in Residence to join the Atlan team.

You join Atlan, and we assign you to cases. Sometimes one, sometimes more. You are paid per assignment and with options in Atlan, which holds a share of every company we build.

The starting case

A technology that captures more gold in the same mining process, without water, using gravity. Behind it are four innovators working as a team on the technology and its delivery; three of them are engineers. Partners are already involved in sales and agreements.

What we need is a person who owns the outcome at this stage: who makes sure things get done right, in the right direction, and who answers for it. That would be you.

A mining or engineering background helps here, but it is not required. Most of this work is business building, not mining.

The team

The innovators know the technology better than anyone. Atlan’s team in Helsinki makes the big decisions with you, backs the case with capital, operations, and experts, and supports the innovators in what they want from this venture. You are Atlan’s person on the case, outside and inside.

Your first 90 days

Week one: you have met the innovators, the partners, and the budget.

End of month one: you know every stakeholder and what each one wants, and the innovators know what “on plan” means.

End of month three: the active project is on plan, the money is going where it should, every stakeholder knows what happens next, and nobody at Atlan has been surprised.

You will hate this if

  • you need all the facts before you can decide.
  • you need a clear job description before you can start.
  • you keep the peace instead of saying that something is off plan.
  • you would rather give advice than do the work.

You will love it if

  • you get restless when nothing moves, and you make it move.
  • you would rather take the morning train to eastern Finland and settle it in person than wait a week for a meeting.
  • you watch the goal, see the big picture, and let others own the details.
  • you can follow a technical argument and still bring the conversation back to the business.

The non-negotiable part

You have carried commercial responsibility for a business, with agreements and money at stake. You understand agreements and finances well enough to lead them, even when someone else drafts them. You are fluent in English and Finnish. You are based in Finland, ready to travel across the country.

Strong advantages: Experience in industrial customers with long buying cycles; public funding and investor materials; a people crisis you managed; a network that gets you to the right people.

Terms

Paid per assignment, plus options in Atlan. Details in the first conversation.
